A strained lat apparently forced Josh Beckett to miss his last scheduled start last Saturday. Following a 126 pitch outing against the White Sox, the "Texas Tough Guy" complained of stiffness and discomfort in his shoulder and lat muscle causing Aaron Cook to start in his place Saturday against Baltimore with terrible results.
It turns out the injury couldn't have been too serious as Beckett played a round of golf last Thursday, just days before skipping his start.
This may be the last straw for Beckett with the fan base. It's clear that he does not care about getting in shape, he was the alleged ringleader of the fried chicken and beer incident, an incident which he took no accountability for. And now he's skipping starts but still playing golf.
It's too bad Beckett doesn't have any trade value at the moment, because it would be great for the Red Sox to ship this cancer out of town.
Unhappy Rondo
Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo took out his frustrations on a camera man Tuesday night after the Celtics 87-86 loss to the Hawks in game 5 of the first round of the NBA playoffs. Rondo was not pleased that a camera man was filming him in the locker room area following the game. As a result Rondo addressed the issue approaching the camera man and telling him to stop.
Rondo of course was upset because he turned the ball over in the final seconds of the Celtics loss just seconds after a steal set his team up for a potential game winning shot.
