ROCKPORT 11, Ipswich 3
The Vikings improve to 12-2 on the season Monday with a convincing home win over rival Ipswich.
With the score tied 3-3, Kristin Turner hit a solo home run in the fourth to give Rockport the lead. Later in the inning, sophomore Gabby Muniz connected for grand slam to put the game out of reach.
Mollie Watson, Kayla Parisi and Meghan Tupper each had two hits for the Vikings.
Triton 9, Manchester Essex 0
Triton took advantage of sloppy play by the Hornets en route to the 9-0 win.
Manchester Essex only mustered one hit in the contest and fall to 3-8 with the loss.
BASEBALL
Masco 4, Manchester Essex 1
In a rain shortened contest, the Hornets fall to 4-8 after being upended by the Chieftains.
Cory Burnham limited Masco to three hits in four innings while striking out three on the mound.
Kevin Carter, Max Nesbit and Jake Fitzgerald all had a hit apiece in the loss.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Manchester Essex 18, Lynnfield 11
The Hornets got back to their winning ways with a Cape Ann League victory over Lynnfield.
Brittany Smith, who missed the past few games after having her wisdom teeth removed, was a force to be reckoned with.
Smith led the offensive explosion with nine goals while Taylor Meek and Carolyn Heslop and each chipped in with three.
Olivia Mastendino also played well, tallying two goals and three assists.
Gloucester 17, Cambridge-Latin 5
The Fishermen received strong efforts from Melodie Orrell (4 goals, assist) Caity O'Leary (3 goals, assist) and Tess Destino (3 goals, assist).
Hayley Labrecque also played well, chipping in with a pair of goals and three assists.
With the win, the Fishermen improve to 4-9 on the season.
