The Fishermen fell to 4-3 on the season with yesterday’s loss despite some solid team defense and three goals and an assist from senior captain Melodie Orrell. Tess Destino added two goals and an assist in the loss, while Katie McTigue and Caity O’Leary chipped in with a goal apiece.

Manchester Essex 5, Hamilton-Wenham 0

The Hornets improved to 6-0 on the year in a match that was much tighter than the final score would suggest.

Mike Fuca won a tight match at first singles in three sets, 7-5, 4-6, 6-1, while both doubles matches were battles.

Jeff Durkin and Seth Cohen won the match of the day at first doubles. After dropping their first set, 2-6, they battled back to take the second set 7-6 (7-3) in a tiebreaker and the final tiebreak set 10-5. Jake Rich and Colin Babikian won at second doubles, 6-1, 7-6 (7-3).

Calvin Lamothe and Sam Girian added wins at second and third singles, respectively.

Ipswich 5, Rockport 0

The Vikings fell to 1-6 on the year with the lopsided loss yesterday despite the efforts of Abby Hood at first singles.

After dropping the first set, 4-6, Hood battled back to grab the second set, 7-5, to force a third-set tiebreak, which she ultimately lost, 8-6.

Rockport gets back at it on Monday when they travel up to Amesbury.
