First singles player Jon Perry won a second-set tiebreaker and Chris Wile pulled out a three-set win in third singles Wednesday to lead the Gloucester High School boys’ tennis team to its fifth consecutive win, a 4-1 home triumph over Lynn Classical.
Perry won his match 6-4, 7-6 by taking a 9-7 tiebreaker, before Wile took his match despite dropping the second set and winning 7-5, 2-6, 6-3.
No. 2 singles Matteo Dolzani rolled to a straight-set, 6-2, 6-4 win to give the Fishermen a sweep of the singles matches, while the second doubles pairing of George Black and Connor Adkins triumphed 6-4, 7-5.
Classical’s lone win came at first doubles over Gloucester’s Cal Cosgrove and Drew Muniz, 2-6, 2-6.
The win boosted the Fishermen’s record to 5-2.
