Rockport girls soccer earns draw against Ipswich

The Vikings move to 0-1-1 with a strong performance against an experienced Ipswich squad. Ipswich controlled play territorially but the Vikings defense, led by Meghan Tupper, Marleigh Callahan, Ali Davis and Meaghan Wonson, stood strong and allowed very few quality scoring chances.

Goal keeper Shelby Gale turned in her first career shutout and did not allow a rebound in the process.

The defending Northeastern Conference champion Magicians handed Gloucester (2-1) its first defeat of the season on Monday as Gloucester struggled a bit at Tedesco Country Club. The Fishermen will look to get back on the winning track Thursday against Winchester at Bass Rocks Golf Club (4:00 p.m.).

Manchester Essex 157 Rockport 87

The Hornets move to 2-0 and Rockport falls to 0-1 on the year in the battle of Cape Ann at Essex County Club.

Kevin Carter led Manchester Essex with 31 points while Ben Bichet and Cam Tuttle had 27 each. Abby Hood powered Rockport with 22 points, James Parisi chipped in 17.
