Youk to DL
Kevin Youkilis was placed on the 15 day disabled list Wednesday with a back injury. The Sox All Star third baseman has gotten off to a slow start and injuries have begin to pile up over the last few seasons.
It looks like the third basemans body is starting to give away on him. Will Middlebrooks looks to be the third baseman of the future for the Sox, and he may be coming sooner rather than later. If Middlebrooks swings a hot bat in the next few weeks, Youkilis' playing time could be cut even when he comes off the disabled list.
NCAA hockey facemask rules
Stemming from last week's annual American Hockey Coaches Association meetings in Naples, Fla., NCAA coaches are heavily in favor of making an equipment change to the NCAA's current model.
The coaches discussed, and were largely in favor of, abolishing the current full-cage facemask in exchange for a 3/4 shield, similar to those worn in junior hockey.
The facemask change was one of four focal points at this year's meetings. The facemask issue will be brought up again with the NCAA Ice Hockey rules committee, which meets in early June for it's bi-annual meeting, and if approved there, will be forwarded to the NCAA for final approval and implementation. The NCAA rules committee has the power to implement rule changes to hockey, but changes such as eliminating the full face shields, must be moved to the NCAA for approval.
Tebowmania runs wild
An Iowa girl tried and tried and tried to take Tim Tebow to her senior prom, held last Saturday. She contacted him through Twitter, she contacted his agent and she even contacted the New York Jets.
But, after all of her attempts failed, she went with the next-best thing. She took a life-size cardboard cutout of Tebow.
