Horgan, Parisi place third
The Gloucester tandem of Mark Horgan and Santo Parisi placed third in Wednesday morning’s Kiss108 Turkey Toss. The event was broadcast over the radio on Kiss108’s Matty in the Morning Show Wednesday morning.
Parisi and Horgan represented Gloucester against nine other tandems of local high school football players.
The Turkey toss saw one teammate toss a full sized turkey backwards over his head into the awaiting arms of his other teammate.
Grinnell College’s Jack Taylor had a legendary night in his team’s 179-104 win over Faith Baptist Bible Tuesday. The 5’10” Sophomore guard shattered the NCAA scoring record with a 138 point effort in the win. Taylor’s mark bests the old NCAA Division III scoring mark of 89 points, ironically set last year by his Grinnell teammate Griffin Lentsch.
In the win Taylor attempted a staggering 108 shots from the field, making 52. He went 27-71 behind the three point arc. Taylor went into the game averaging just under 24 points per game, his average went up to just ove 61 points per game with the record setting effort. Faith Baptist had a player put up 70 points in the same game.
Here’s to great defense.
Red Sox name new first
The Red Sox keep filling in their pitching staff this winter when fans are anxiously awaiting them to fill the roster with capable Major League players.
On Tuesday Arnie Beyeler, who spent the last 26 years in the minor leagues as a player, coach and manager, most recently as the manager of the Pawtucket Red Sox, the team’s first base coach.
The Red Sox have pretty much filled their entire coaching staff, but as team’s sign new players the Red Sox have yet to make a move to improve a team that finished the 2012 season with 69 wins.
This offseason the Red Sox have sat back and watched the Blue Jays improve drastically and the Yankees sign a pitcher, Hiroki Kuroda, that the Red Sox were interested in.
At the moment the Sox look like the worst team in the AL East, lets hope a couple of big free agent signings are on the horizon instead of announcing another new member of the coaching staff.
