Two first-half touchdown passes from Brett Cahill to Gilbert Brown helped the Gloucester High Fishermen close out their second perfect regular season in three years this morning with a 35-7 romp past rival Danvers in their Thanksgiving Day game at Newell Statium.

The win capped an 11-0 season for the Fishermen, who are the Northeastern Athletic Conference Large Division champs and now move on to the Division 1A playoff semifinals with a game next Tuesday night. The Fishermen will face Westford, which defeated Acton-Boxboro 31-28 in overtime in their Thanksgiving Day showdown this morning.

Today's game also marked the 60th meeting in the series between Gloucester and Danvers, with the Fishermen now holding an overall series edge of 39-19-2. Danvers finished its season with a record of 6-5.

Cahill tossed a 5-yard pass to Brown to give the Fishermen a 7-0 first-quarter lead, and the pair connected on a 55-yard scoring strike with 6 minutes left in the second quarter. A 1-yard second-quarter run by Jordan Shairs accounted for Gloucester's other score en route to a 20-0 halftime lead.

A 4-yard touchdown run by Connor Ressel boosted the Gloucester High Fishermen's lead to 28-0 to open the third quarter, while Marc Giacalone's 2-yard touchdown run stretched the Fishermen's lead to 35-7.

Danvers' lone touchdown has come on a 90-yard third-quarter run by John McInnis.
