Quarterback Alex Carr's 11-yard third-quarter touchdown run and Ben Kekeisen's second 2-point coversion run of the day broke a 14-14 tie today and gave the Manchester Essex Hornets a 22-14 win in their Thanksgiving Day game with Georgetown High at Georgetown.
Brian Ciccone had run for one touchdown and hauled in a pass from quarterback Alex Carr for another in the first half. With Georgetown leading 7-0, Ciccone scored on a 3-yard run to make it 7-6, then scored on a 12-yard TD pass from Carr to put the Hornets ahead 12-7 before Kekeisen made it 14-7 by running for the two-point conversion. Georgetown had knotted the game by scoring on the final play of the half.
The win gives the Hornets a final record of 9-2, while Georgetown closed out with a mark of 1-9. The meeting marked the 50th in the series between Manchester Essex and Georgetown, with the Hornets now holding a 27-23 edge.
