---- — The Gloucester boys lacrosse team was in good shape midway through Saturday’s tilt with Wakefield at Nate Ross Field.

The Fishermen battled a strong Warriors team in a see-saw first half and went into the break trailing 5-4, well within striking distance. Wakefield, however, went on to dominate the second half en route to a 9-4 win.

Goalie Joe Taormina turned in a strong performance, but Gloucester (2-3) was plagued by penalties and could not muster up a goal over the game’s final two quarters.

Goals from Ian Kennedy and Austin Titus gave the Fishermen an early 2-0 lead, but Wakefield was able to tie up the score by the end of the first quarter and extend its lead to 5-2 in the middle of the second quarter. Goals from Winslow Lewis and John Curcuru before halftime cut the lead to 5-4 but Wakefield was able to control the second half to secure the win.
