They did both and beat Sista Act by three boat lengths to win their second straight title at last night's Fiesta women's seine boat championship off Pavilion Beach.
No Way Out and Sista Act advanced to last night's event after finishing first and second in Wednesday's elimination races. As defending champs, Oar'Dacious received an automatic bye to last night's finals.
"This is unbelievable," Oar'Dacious coxswain Joanne Frontiero said. "Last year was great, but two in a row is awesome. I can't even talk, I'm so happy."
Oar'Dacious led the race from start to finish. Oar'Dacious maintained a quarter boat lead to the flag, holding off a push from runner-up Sista Act just before the turn.
Oar'Dacious turned first with Sista Act right behind. Oar'Dacious scuttler Phil Francis made a slick turn giving his crew a boat-length lead coming home.
"We had a great turn," Frontiero said. "And we had a great transition coming out of the turn, which really helped us."
Oar'Dacious cruised from there on in, increasing its lead to three boat-lengths by the time they reached the beach.
Oar'Dacious rower Kimara Jebb was very pleased with her crew's second championship in a row.
"This is the apex of our performance," Jebb said. "We have great leadership and incredible teamwork and that's what lead us to win."
Frontiero agreed.
"We were so good today," Frontiero said. "We stayed together through the entire race, I am so proud of us."
Crowned Junior champs
Backlash came away with the junior women's seine boat championship, winning their race by more than 10 boats.
Backlash took an early lead at the start of the race and extended it from there. They took a big lead halfway through the race, finishing their turn before the other two crews even started to turn.
It was smooth sailing from there on in as Backlash kept a steady stroke going the entire way and built upon their lead.
Backlash rower Samantha Rose was very happy with her teams performance.
"I would rate our performance a 10," Rose said. "We got a good lead from the start and just kept adding to it the entire race. It feels great to get a big win like this."
The True Few finished in second place, On The Rise came in third
