Tebow at RB?
Could Jets backup quarterback Tim Tebow be lining up at running back Sunday against the Patriots? New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan says it’s a possibility.
“That’s a possibility,” Ryan said when asked about the prospects of his backup quarterback lining up at running back. “The thing about Tim, with him being a football player like we’ve always talked about, by playing quarterback he knows all the positions and so, can you plug him in at running back? Can you plug him in at tight end, whatever? I think the answer is yes.”
The Jets may not end up putting Tebow at running back or tight end, but Ryan has nothing to lose saying that he may because it forces the Patriots to take time out of their practice to put the possibility into their game plan.
Something tells me Tebow would actually make a more productive running back or tight end than a quarterback.
Baltimore Orioles and former Red Sox third base coach DeMarlo Hale became the fourth person to interview for the Red Sox vacant managerial job this week.
Hale joins Los Angeles Dodgers coach Tim Wallach, New York Yankees coach Tony Pena and San Diego Padres special assistant Brad Ausmus as candidates who have interviewed for the job. The Red Sox are also interested in Toronto Blue Jays manager and former Sox pitching coach John Farrell.
That leaves five candidates in the mix to replace Bobby Valentine.
Farrell appears to be the Sox first choice but he is currently under contract with Toronto and the Blue Jays may not allow him to leave. Of the other four candidates only Pena has MLB managerial experience but all of them have MLB playing experience except Hale.
The only certainty in this managerial search is that whoever gets the job is going to have his hands full.
A high school kicker in the Seattle Washington area hit a field goal longer than any kick in NFL history. A 67 yard boot from Austin Rehkow of Central Valley High School in Washington sent his game into overtime and broke a state field goal record.
The longest kick in NFL history is 63 yards and is shared by four players.
