---- — AFC Player
of the Week
@text1:Patriots quarterback Tom Brady once again tied Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning for the most AFC Player of the Week Awards. Brady received the honor for his Week 8 performance giving him 22 AFC Player of the Week Awards, tying him with Manning for the most all time.
Brady helped the Patriots to a 45-7 win over St. Louis Sunday in London throwing for 304 yards and four touchdowns.
Bruins forward Chris Kelly has signed a contract to play in Switzerland during the NHL lockout making him the 10th Bruin to go and play in Europe while the lockout continues to drag on.
Kelly, who signed a four year extension with the Bruins this summer, has an out clause and can come back to Boston as soon as the lockout ends, if it ends.
With 10 players choosing to play overseas during the lockout, the Bruins now have the most players taking their talents to Europe.
a free agent
@text1:After a 2012 season in which he struggled and was traded, the Chicago White Sox declined to pick up a $13 million option on Kevin Youkilis for the 2013 season making him a free agent.
Of course this news created buzz around Boston as the Sox need a first baseman and Bobby Valentine, the man who butted heads with Youkilis, has been fired. Youkilis batted .235 with 15 home runs and 46 RBI in 80 games last season, and while the home run and RBI numbers stack up well over a 162 game schedule, the Red Sox do not need to bring back damaged goods.
Youkilis had some great years in Boston and he will always be appreciated for it, but he and the team moved on last year. The Red Sox are attempting to move in a different direction, bringing back Youkilis will move the team in the direction it is trying to avoid.
