It was a clean sweep for Manchester Essex as it not only won the match 5-0, it swept every match 6-0, 6-0.
Picking up wins for the Hornets was Brittany Collens at No. 1 singles, Michele Fuca at No. 2 singles, Kendall McCormick at No. 3 singles, Rachel Daley and Chanel Bullock at No. 1 doubles and Avery St. Sauveur and Molly Carlson at No. 2 doubles.
Gloucester 3 Salem 2
Gloucester improves to 4-2 on the season with its third straight win.
No. 1 singles player Corinne DeLouise led the way with a three set win (6-1, 3-6, 6-2). No. 2 singles player Jill MacDonald (6-0, 6-0) and the No. 1 doubles tandem of Kelsi Salah and Rose Margetson (6-2, 6-4) were also victorious for Gloucester.
Triton 5 Rockport 0
The Vikings move to 1-4 with the loss. Abby Hood was strong in defeat on Friday dropping a close one at No. 1 singles 4-6, 4-6.
Gloucester 1 Salem 0
The Fishermen improve to 5-2 on the year in what head coach Joe Orlando called a “character win.”
Senior Sean Gillon picked up the win throwing five shutout innings while striking out seven. Connor Harris came in to earn the save striking out four over the last two innings.
Gloucester took the lead in the top of the sixth when Jordan Pallazola doubled, Mike Muniz sacrificed him to third and Curtis Quinn brought him home with a sacrifice fly. Orlando was also quick to praise his defense, which played error-less baseball in the win. The Fishermen are right back at it this afternoon when Marblehead visits Nate Ross Field (2:00 p.m.).
Beverly 3 Gloucester 2
The Fishermen fall to 1-2 with the tight loss. Pat Kelly picked up his second victory of the season at No. 3 singles in dominant fashion 6-0, 6-0. The No. 1 doubles tandem of Chris Wile and Cal Cosgrove won in three sets surviving a second set tie break 10-8 for their first victory of the season.
Marblehead 11 Gloucester 2
The Fishermen fall to 2-5 on the season with their third straight loss. Jason Lattof and John Curcuru scored for Gloucester, Austin Titus had an assist.
