---- — Sox shakeups
The Red Sox made a couple of roster moves on Tuesday, the most notable being the team’s closer situation. Closer Joel Hanrahan joined closer Andrew Bailey on the disabled list Tuesday after injuring his forearm.
Manager John Farrell announced that Junichi Tazawa will take Hanrahan and Bailey’s spot at the closer position for the time being. Tazawa has been great in the Sox bullpen this season sporting a 2.51 ERA in 16 appearances out of the Sox bullpen this season. Koji Uehara remains the team’s eighth inning set-up man.
The Red Sox also moved struggling starter Felix Doubront to the bullpen and called up rookie Allen Webster to take his spot in the rotation. Doubront has been inconsistent in the early going this season with a 5.67 ERA. Webster was solid in his major league debut last month.
Webster will start today’s game against the Minnesota Twins.
Patriots great Tedy Bruschi has gotten a call to the hall, the College Football Hall of Fame. Bruschi, who played linebacker for 13 seasons in a Patriots uniform playing in five Super Bowls and winning three while playing his college ball at the University of Arizona, will be honored along side former University of Miami quarterback Vinny Testaverde and former University of Wisconsin running back Ron Dayne.
Bruschi was a two-time all american defensive tackle at Arizona before being converted to a linebacker by the Pats, who drafted him in the third round of the 1996 draft.
