Crunch Time

Boston,

New York rivalry

The Patriots and Jets/Giants and the Red Sox and Yankees may have company in the Boston, New York rivalry. With the Bruins and Rangers playing at such a high level the stage has been set for another great rivalry between the two rival cities.

The Bruins and Rangers figure to be two of the best teams in the Eastern Conference again this season. Saturday’s season opener was a 3-1 Bruins win but the teams will go at it again Wednesday in New York.

The matchup is so intriguing because the teams have similar styles. Both physical, the Bruins a little bigger and stronger, both can skate, the Rangers are slightly faster, and both are built around strong defense from every position and goaltending.

A Bruins vs. Rangers playoff series would officially kick start the matchup as a serious rivalry, we can only hope it ends up happening.

Legends

pass away

Major League Baseball lost two of its most legendary names on Saturday. Former Baltimore Orioles Hall of Fame manager Earl Weaver passed away Saturday morning and St. Louis Cardinals iconic outfielder/first baseman Stan Musial passed away Saturday night.

Weaver managed the Orioles to a world series and is one of the most popular Orioles figures of all time.

Musial is one of the all time greats with a .331 career average, 475 home runs and 3630 hits. Musial did not hit under .300 until the age of 38 and won seven batting titles. He is also one of MLBs all time fan favorites.

Crabtree questioned

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree was interviewed by police this weekend in connection with an alleged sexual assault. Crabtree started for San Francisco in the NFC Championship game Sunday in Atlanta and police say charges against him are not likely.
