---- — Ravens
Patriots fans have been drooling for years over the prospects of Anquan Boldin in a Patriots uniform, and those hopes heightened over the last week when rumors began to swirl that the Ravens may release the wide receiver.
Unfortunately for the Patriots, and any other team interested in Boldin’s services for that matter, he said on Saturday that he will retire if the Ravens release him.
”I won’t play in another uniform,” Boldin said to NBC Sports Radio. “We have a saying, once a Raven, always a Raven, and I’ll always be a Raven.”
Sox prospect accidentally shoots himself
Red Sox outfield prospect Bryce Bentz accidentally shot himself in the leg two weeks ago while cleaning his hand gun. The bullet reportedly went into Bentz’s leg and out the other side.
”He was at home cleaning a gun, and it accidentally went off,’’ Red Sox general manager Cherington said. “Fortunately for him, it’s something he’s going to recover from and be fine, and it won’t affect his baseball career. I guess you could say he got lucky relative to what happened. I think he understands he got lucky. It’s a serious thing, and he has to be careful. He’s here in Fort Myers and he’s recovering and it’s not going to get in the way of his future, but he won’t be in big league camp.”
Bentz, 24, is a non-roster invitee to Sox camp.
Marrero moving up
Deven Marrero was just drafted by the Red Sox last year, but he has already been invited to big league camp.
Marrero, a 22 year old shortstop, was drafted by the Red Sox in the first round in 2012 out of Arizona State. Marrero is listed as the No. 11 prospect in the Red Sox system.
