The Gloucester hockey team will be sending four players to the Northeastern Conference All Star Game, which will be held Saturday at Salem State University’s Rockett Arena (time TBA).
Four seniors will represent the Fishermen Saturday in senior tri-captains Mike Muniz, Pete Mondello and Alex Webb along with Casey Noyes.
Mondello, Webb and Noyes are the team’s top three scorers with 19, 17 and 12 points respectively. Muniz has logged huge minutes as the team’s most reliable and experienced defenseman this season.
Gloucester’s All Stars will join up with the All Stars from Marblehead, Danvers, Lynn, Revere and Saugus wearing its dark away jerseys while the All Stars from Beverly, Winthrop, Peabody, Salem and Swampscott will team up and wear the home white jerseys.
Sox acquire Carp
The Red Sox acquired outfielder/first baseman Mike Carp in a trade with Seattle Wednesday for a player to be named later or cash. Carp, 26, is expected to compete for a backup job in Boston.
Carp is a left handed hitter with some power hitting 18 home runs in his 173 game career. He was designated for assignment by the Mariners after missing 79 games with a shoulder injury in 2012.
The Red Sox moved Ryan Kalish to the 60 day disabled list to make room for Carp, who is expected to compete for a job with the likes of Daniel Nava and Lyle Overbay.
Celtics sign Williams
The Celtics have signed 25 year old forward Terrance Williams to a 10 day contract after he received his clearance letter from his Chinese League team.
Williams has played most of this season and all of last season in China, he joined the Celtics last night in Los Angeles.
In 129 career games Williams averages 7.6 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.
