Gloucester (1-0) opened up the newly refurbished New Balance Track and Field at Newell Stadium in style Wednesday to the tune of a shutout win over a Northeastern Conference foe.
“It was a great way to kick off the season and open the new stadium,” Gloucester head coach Lauren Riley said. “The girls came out ready to play in all facets of the game.”
Gloucester put the game away early with five goals in the first half, two from senior captain Taylor Sargent and one each from Haley Davis, Kayla Nasser and Sabrina Cottone. Olivia Legendre and Chloe Flavin added second half goals while the defensive trio of senior captains Jill MacDonald and Julia Lamoureaux along with Kate Morrissey completely shut down the Revere offense.

The Vikings open up with a nice win over a Cape Ann League Small rival thanks to a big second half. Emily Faulds and Zoe Sewell powered the offense with two goals each while Miranda Roller chipped in a pair of assists.
Head coach Mary Ryan also credited the play of Heather MacArthur, Heidi Warde and Shelby Battistelli.

The Fishermen move to 2-0 on the year edging out a tough Big Blue team on the road Wednesday.
Curtis Quinn led the way for Gloucester winning his match 5-4 shooting an even par 34 in the process. Also picking up wins for Gloucester were Devon Murray (6-3), Eric Chalmers (6.5-2.5) and Reilly Zubricki (5-4). Bart Margiotta and Zack Thompson also drew praise from head coach Brian Goulart for picking up key points.
