The Hornets boys move to 2-1 on the season splitting a pair of matches on Wednesday against Triton and Newburyport.

Cam Holley, Spencer Feuerbach and Nathan Evans led the way for Manchester Essex finishing 7th, 8th and 9th respectively with identical times of 18:29. Patrick Guinee (19:11), Charlie Davis (19:17), and Parker Malarkey (19:27) were the next three finishers for the Hornets.

The Fishermen fall to 0-1 dropping Wednesday’s meet to the defending Northeastern Conference Champions. Willie Pierce led the way for Gloucester with a fourth place finish. Everest Crawford, Matt Ciaramitaro, Eric Ciluffo and Wyatt Ronan were the next four finishers in 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th respectively.

The Hornets girls also move to 2-1 with a split on Wednesday and nearly pulled off the sweep falling just shy of a win over Newburyport.

Olivia Lantz led the way for all runners coming in first with a time of 20:33. Maura McCormick (6th, 22:33), Holly Fossa (8th, 22:40) and Eve Feuerbach (10th, 22:42) all turned in top 10 finishes while Fiona Davis (22:56) and Lindsey Duff (23:39) also turned in points for the Hornets.

Peabody 17 Gloucester 46

The Gloucester girls also fell to a tough opponent in the defending Division 1 All State champions. Freshman Carly Curcuru was the top Gloucester finisher in fourth place followed by Corinne DeLouise and Kacie Quinn.

Girls Soccer

Marblehead 1 Rockport 0

The Vikings (0-2-1) kept the game close for the majority of the contest as the game remained scoreless until the Magicians scored what turned out to be the game winning goal with 15 minutes to play.

Tri-captains Hannah Lorden and Katie Andrews played well in the midfield for the Vikings as did Meghan Tupper and Ali Davis on defense. Rockport will next take on Manchester Essex Friday at Hyland Field in the battle of Cape Ann (5:00 p.m.).

Golf

Manchester Essex 150 Georgetown 120

The Hornets move to 3-0 on the year and hit the 150 point mark for the third straight contest.

Ben Bichet led the way with 32 points, Will Burgess had 28 and Kevin Carter 26.
