The Gloucester hockey team now needs just two points to qualify for the Division 2 North state tournament after knocking off Revere 3-1 on Saturday night.

The Fishermen (7-5-4) trailed 1-0 after the first on a short-handed goal from the Patriots but took the lead back on a pair of second period goals from Connor Cranston on a shot from the point and senior captain MacKenzie Quinn, who is tied for the team scoring lead with fellow captain Conor Ressel (21 points). Johnny Interrante's third period goal on a breakaway sealed the deal.

Gloucester has two big Northeastern Conference games coming up this week. They could clinch a tournament berth with a win over Winthrop on Wednesday (6 p.m., Talbot Rink). Then rival Danvers comes to town on Saturday (6 p.m.).

Gloucester in a desperate spot after loss to Beverly

SALEM— The Gloucester hockey team's backs are officially against the wall.
Following Saturday's 6-3 loss to Beverly at Salem State University's Rockett Arena, the Fishermen (6-7-5) have virtually no margin for error in their final two games of the season needing three points in two games against Northeastern Conference Titans Winthrop (Wednesday, 6:00 p.m., Talbot Rink) and Danvers (Saturday, 6:00 p.m., Talbot Rink). Gloucester posted a 0-1-1 mark against the Vikings and Falcons in early season meetings, a loss in either game means its tournament hopes are dashed.

He's our Valentine
