Area Roundup: Gloucester field hockey gets back to .500

Gloucester 2 Revere 0

Gloucester moves back to the all important .500 mark at 4-4 with the road win on Tuesday.

Taylor Sargent and Kayla Nasser scored the Gloucester goals with Autumn Zubricki, Liv Legendre, Jill MacDonald and Chloe Flavin chipping in assists. Also playing well for Gloucester was the defensive trio of Julia Lamoureaux, Kate Morrissey and Caitlyn Lucido.

Manchester Essex 2 Pentucket 0

The Hornets remain unbeaten at 9-0-1 with their fifth shutout win of the season.

Rachael Gallagher and Paige Zaval scored for Manchester Essex.

Cross Country

Gloucester 15 Winthrop 45 (Boys)

Gloucester moves to 2-2 with the road win Tuesday by sweeping the top six finishers.

Matt Ciaramitaro won Tuesday’s race followed by Willy Pierce and Everest Crawford. Dylan Genovese, Kyle Manley and Eric Ciluffo took fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.

Gloucester 24 Winthrop 33 (Girls)

The Gloucester girls also improve to 2-2 on the year with a win over the Vikings.

Carly Curcuru led the way for Gloucester with a first place finish and a time of 17:29. Kacie Quinn and Sabrina Marnoto followed in third and fourth place respectively while Corinne DeLouise and Chloe Kenyon also scored points for Gloucester finishing in seventh and ninth place respectively.

Golf

Manchester Essex 154Hamilton-Wenham 108

The now 8-1 Hornets picked up their fifth straight win Tuesday at Myopia Hunt Club.

Ben Bichet led all scorers with 30 points. Cam Tuttle (29 points), Mike Fuca (27), Troy Ciaramitaro (26) and Kevin Carter (24) also had good rounds.

Newburyport 164 Rockport 113

The Vikings fall to 1-8 with the road loss on Tuesday.

Abby Hood led the team with 25 points. Curtis Welcome scored 23, James Parisi 19 and Kyle Nelson 17.

Boys Soccer

North Reading 1 Rockport 0

The Hornets scored the lone goal of the hard fought, evenly played match with 13 minutes to play dropping the Vikings to 6-2-1 on the year.

Rockport had the majority of scoring chances including five corner kicks but couldn’t capitalize. Sam Roell and Gideon Roell played well in the midfield along with Patrick McNiff, Mateo Laverde, Matthew Tibert and Mike Carbone.
