Buchholz questions

According to multiple media reports questions about Red Sox starting pitcher Clay Buchholz’s health have arisen and his status for pitching over the weekend is up in the air.

Red Sox manager John Farrell has yet to officially name a starter for Game 3 and Game 4 on Saturday and Sunday in St. Louis. Felix Doubront is reportedly on stand by and will make a start in place of Buchholz if needed. Farrell, however, says Buchholz will be good to go this weekend.

“Right now he’s scheduled to pitch on the weekend over in St. Louis,” Farrell said. “We have yet to determine whether Peavy is in Game 4 or Game 3. Some of that will be determined on how we see the style of John Lackey go up against this team (tonight).”

Wednesday’s story outlining the potential playoff scenarios for the Gloucester and Manchester Essex football teams incorrectly stated that Gloucester had wrapped up a first round home playoff game and a top four seed.

The story did not factor in four previous wins from Triton, Masconomet can pick up 20 points, not eight points, with a win over the Vikings this weekend. As a result the Chieftains have a very realistic shot at moving ahead of Gloucester for the No. 4 seed in Division 3 Northeast.

Due to the tragedy that hit Danvers High School on Wednesday, a pair of Gloucester High School games against the Falcons scheduled for Wednesday have been postponed.

The boys soccer team’s senior night match against the Falcons at Newell Stadium and the field hockey team’s season finale at Danvers was also postponed. A makeup date has yet to be announced for either game.
