Ex-Celtics legend misses
Apparently, ex-Celtics great Bill Russell, who won 11 championships here, isn’t a happy camper after his open heart surgery about a month ago. But it has nothing to do with his recovery. It has to do with the fact that the Seattle resident can’t play golf.
“The most I can do now is walk, but the two things I enjoy the most, I can’t do this summer,” Russell told NBA.com earlier this week. “Drive my car, which every summer I drive across the country at least twice, and play golf every day. I can’t do either one of those for a while ... So, most of the summer I get to be a grouch.
“The irony was when I was released from the hospital in Seattle and was told no driving or golfing, we had 30-something days of beautiful golfing weather,” Russell said. “The gods must be punishing me for living such a good life.”
Really, Greg?
UTL had to laugh when former PGA superstar Greg Norman had made some critical comments about Tiger Woods a few days.
In an interview, Norman said Tiger is intimidated by Rory McIlroy and that Tiger’s troubles are with his putter.
We wouldn’t mind the criticism In fact, we agree wholeheartedly. We just don’t accept those comments from the source. We would change our view if Norman admitted he is one of the all-time biggest disappointments in PGA Tour history and that he choked big-time when he lost his six-stroke lead at the 1996 Masters to Nick Faldo.
NFLPA Request
The National Football League Players Association has now become involved in the league’s replacement referee fiasco.
This weekend the NFLPA sent a letter to the league asking it to reinstate the regular officials, who have been locked out by the league.
”Your decision to lock out officials with more than 1,500 years of collective NFL experience has led to a deterioration of order, safety and integrity,” the NFLPA wrote. “This affirmative decision has not only resulted in poor calls, missed calls and bad game management, but the combination of those deficiencies will only continue to jeopardize player health and safety and the integrity of the game that has taken decades to build.”
