The Vikings move to 3-6 with the win while the Fishermen remain winless.

Leading the way for Rockport was

Mike Tupper and Kyle Nelson with 25 points each. Caleb Tanson scored 21 and Abby Hood

chipped in 20.


Curtis Quinn led all scorers with 27 points, Jesse Francis

scored 22.

The teams played under Cape Ann League Stableford scoring because the match was played at Rockport Golf Club.

The Hornets moved to 7-2 on the season by putting up their second best score of the year.

Josh Christopher led all scorers with 30 points. Justin Eichenberger had 29, Ben Bichet 28, Michael Fuca 27 and 26 from Will Burgess and

Cam Tuttle.

Beverly 0 (Saturday)

The Fishermen move to 4-2-2 on the year with an important win over a strong Northeastern Conference Large opponent in Beverly.

Cal Cosgrove scored what turned out to be the game winner when he put home a Jason Vizena

pass in the 29th minute.

Head coach

Art Simms also credited the play of Andrew Gossom at center back, Vizena on the defensive end and goal keeper Patrick Kelley, who earned a shutout.

Rockport 2

North Reading 1

The Vikings (6-1) did something they could not do the last three years, top North Reading. To make matters even more impressive Rockport pulled off the win on the road.

Freshman Andrew Wayrynen put the Vikings up in the first half when his cross deflected off of a North Reading defender and into the goal. Later in the first Shaun Aspesi put home a pass from Jon Ferrante after the two exchanged several passes between each other down the field. Head coach Dave Curley

called the goal “the prettiest the team has had all season.”

Eric Littlefield

was labeled the man of the match by his coach as he notched four big saves in the second half from point blank range and fielded another six crosses in the box.

Although they did not show up on the stat sheet, Curley praised the play of Matt Rostowski, Caden Tibert,Nick Scatterday, Tucker Meredith, Conor Douglass and Nick Laverde .

Manchester Essex 4

Newburyport 4

The Hornets came back from two goals down to earn a draw in a crazy back and forth final three minutes of play.

Alex Walder put the Hornets up 3-2 with three minutes to go on a header but that goal was quickly answered by Newburyport. With one minute to play the Hornets took a 4-3 lead on a dead ball strike from Will Nadai . Newburyport, however, came back to tie it on a corner kick with just seconds to play.

Sean Gutierrez scored the first goal for Manchester Essex (3-3-2) on an assist from Nadai. Liam Aldrich also scored for the Hornets with an assist from Pat Hagar .

Girls Soccer

Gloucester 2

Saugus 0 (Saturday)

Gloucester (1-4-2) broke into the win column with a shutout of Northeastern Conference foe Saugus.

Bianca Giacalone powered the Gloucester offense with a goal and an assist. Elle Wierbicky had Gloucester’s other goal while Tess Benson had an assist. Caroline Greeke and Kali Cook also played well for Gloucester in the win.
