Not a good team
Celtics coach Doc Rivers was quite frank when describing the play of his team through the first 24 games of the season after Tuesday’s loss to Chicago.
“This is not a good team right now,” the Celtics head coach said.
Rivers may be right, the Celtics look a little extra old, a little extra slow and a little less motivated so far this season which has led to a mediocre record.
But it is still a little too early to panic on the Celtics, who have been known to have streaks of the season where they look like a bad team only to play well heading into the postseason. If Boston is still hovering around the .500 mark by the time February rolls around, then it’s time to be concerned.
The Patriots got some good news and some bad news on Wednesday as All Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski returned to the practice field, but Tom Brady was absent with an apparent shoulder injury.
Gronkowski has been out for the last four weeks with a broken forearm suffered late in the Patriots win over the Colts in November. The Patriots tight end practiced on a limited basis last Friday but did not play Sunday night against the San Francisco 49ers.
His status for Sunday’s game against Jacksonville is still unknown as the team’s injury report is not released until Friday.
Brady is expected to play on Sunday.
The East Boston boys basketball team was No. 1 on Wednesday morning’s SportsCenter top 10 after an incredible victory over Madison Park on Tuesday.
A Madison Park player was fouled shooting a three pointer with one second to play in a tie game. He sunk his first two free throws to give Madison Park a two point lead and missed the third on purpose relegating East Boston to a length of the court heave.
But East Boston’s Pat Santos nailed the length of the court three at the buzzer to give East Boston a one point win.
