'Hold the Fort' group to hold legal fundraiser

The citizens' group called "Hold the Fort — Save Gloucester," gearing up for a possible legal challenge to a pending city approval of a Commercial Street hotel overlay zone, will hold a fundraiser at the Gloucester Elks Lodge on Friday, with proceeds to go toward any legal fees, organizers say.

The Hold the Fort group is charging $10 per person for admission to the Friday evening event, which is set to run from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. with live music, a 50/50 raffle and silent auction.

"All proceeds will go to our legal fund which will be used exclusively to protect the Marine Industrial Zoning of the fort, Marine Industrial jobs, and to promote a working waterfront for future generations to ensure the creation of new jobs for Gloucester," the group's announcement states.
