Show us your facial hair for the Sox

Send in your facial hair photos

Facial hair has been as prominent as home runs and hot dogs at Fenway Park this season.

Sidelined relief pitcher Andrew Miller started growing his beard last season, but he told Chris Smith, baseball writer for the Eagle-Tribune, the Times sister newspaper, that he wasn’t sure he was the first.

“I think Jonny has had that one for awhile’” Miller said.

He means Jonny Gomes, of course, who along with David Ross and Mike Napoli have grown particularly long and arguably unstylish beards throughout the season. And that’s not all the players who have been on the facial-hair bandwagon on the way to winning the American League East and gearing up for the AL Division Series.

Now fans are getting in on it, too, and you can be part of it.

So send your photos of your real, fake, bushy or lame facial hair to Tracey Rauh, managing editor of features for North, trauh@gloucestertimes.com (subject: Red Sox Beards.)

You might just find yourself in The Times — albeit a little itchy. But isn’t it worth taking one for the team???
