Gloucester Police/Fire: City police charge Rockport man at Beverly plaza

Gloucester Police/Fire

A Gloucester police officer arrested a Rockport man while the two were purchasing fuel at a plaza off Route 128 in Beverly Wednesday around 3:30 p.m.

According to the police report, Gloucester police Sgt. Sean Conners was filling his vehicle’s tank with gas and noticed Cory Bullard, 27, of Highview Road paid for about $2.50 in gasoline, and appeared drowsy and lethargic.

In his report, Conners also noted that the Beverly plaza is known by both Gloucester and Beverly police as a hub for drug activity.

He then followed Bullard back toward Gloucester and noticed the Rockport man was weaving in and out of different lanes.

After stopping Bullard, Conners determined he was impaired because of his lethargic actions. According to the police report, Bullard said he was on medication, which caused the drowsiness, but he admitted to using heroin on Tuesday, and police found a hypodermic needle under his car seat.

Bullard was then placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs, and for a marked lanes violation.

Police responded to — and diffused — a verbal altercation on Ivy Court Wednesday around 4:30 p.m. There were no charges filed.
