Sewer overflow closes Pavilion Beach to swimming

Those hoping to cool off at Pavilion Beach today will have to make other plans as the city closed the beach to swimming after area sewers overflowed overnight.

City officials said the pummeling rain Monday evening triggered a “combined sewer overflow event,” and they closed the beach as a precautionary measure this morning before any tests results even became available.

Results of water samples taken today will be known by tomorrow morning. Residents are advised that if they choose to swim it is at their own risk.
