Firefighters battle 'fully involved' blaze in Ashland Place house

Gloucester firefighters are batting what's being described a a "fully involved" house fire at 2 Ashland Place, located off Washington Street just north of Grant Circle.

Firefighters among the first group of responders reported that "heavy fire" was showing at the scene shortly after the initial call at around 2:15 p.m. A second alarm also sounded shortly before 2:30.

There was no indication that anyone was inside the structure when the fire broke out, though that could not be immediately confirmed. Rockport and Essex fire departments are also responding to provide aid at the scene, and to provide mutual aid coverage for the city.
