Sidewalk Bazaar takes it to the streets

Gloucester’s Main Street merchants literally took to the street Thursday – and they’re ready to do the same today and Saturday as well.

The occasion is the 54th edition of Downtown Gloucester’s Sidewalk Bazaar, with outdoor dining and sidewalk sales expanding the shopping landscape throughout the stretch of Main Street from Washington Street to the crossing of Pleasant and Duncan streets.

Thursday, proprietors of stores lage and small displayed their goods and greeted customers outside their doors, while shoppers and browsers not only checked out the merchandise, but also relished the performances by musicians and other street entertainers who seemed right at home in the celebration, too.

The downtown festival continues both today and Saturday from 9 to 5, with more shopping and entertainment programs ranging from snake presentations throughout the day by the Cane Ann Vernal Pond Team to puppet shows by the North Shore Bible Church and Faith Christian and School and musical performances by Ric St. Germain, The Sturdy Oaks bluegrass trio, and many more.
