Update: Rockport firefighters knock down Penzance blaze

ROCKPORT — Town firefighters have knocked down a house fire that broke out in a home at the corner of Penzance Road and Eden Road just before 5 p.m.

Firefighters responded to the call of a “working fire” at the home at 17 Penzance Road around 4:55 p.m., and crews arriving first on the scene reported smoke showing out the front of the structure. Firefighers reported that no one was in the building, and there were no reports of any injuries. Calls from the scene indicated that crews had knocked down the fire by around 5:30.

Authorities are assessing damage to the house, listed as a three-bedroom, 1,488 square foot home.
