Woman faces heroin charge after boat arrest

Gloucester resident arrested on boat

A Gloucester woman is facing heroin and other drug charges after she was hauled off a fishing boat boarded by Gloucester Police last Friday afternoon in conjunction with a pair of court warrants.

According to the Gloucester police report, officers motored out to the fishing vessel “Molly and Alley” — anchored behind the Cape Ann Seafood Exchange Complex off Harbor Loop — to find Ashley M. Williamson, 22, of Sylvan Court. Police were acting on a call that Williamson, wanted on two warrants, was living on a fishing boat.

Police also issued criminal citations to three Gloucester men for knowingly being where heroin is kept, boarded the “Molly and Alley” and reported seeing several needles and syringes throughout the boat.

According to police, Williamson was in the bunk area when police boarded the boat, and an officer looking into the bunk saw Williamson tuck something beneath a mattress before emerging.

During a search, police found a “fully loaded” needle with brown liquid that they “believed to be heroin” under that same mattress. Police said Williamson immediately claimed the heroin as her own when officers presented the needle.

Police arrested Williamson on the two warrants.

During booking, officers found 6 unknown pills in Williamson’s possession and charged her with possession of a Class B substance, as well as possession of a Class A substance — heroin.

Boat Capt. Kirk Wonson, 43, and with no known permanent address, was also criminally cited along with Shawn P. Goulart, 29, of Harold Avenue and Richard T. Lane, 31, of Rose Lane. All three were charged with knowingly being in a place where heroin was being kept.
