With local growers looking toward their fall harvest, a number of local farmers and other vendors brought their wares to Gloucester’s Stage Fort Park Thursday for one last show of summer — the final outdoor Cape Ann Farmers’ Market of the season.
Farmers’ Market Manager Niki Bogin said the season, the seventh for the marketplace and the third at Stage Fort, saw noticeably more traffic from people from outside the immediate area.
“It was a great season,” Bogin said, “More people, more vendors, more customers and more enthusiasm. People are really thinking of this as a place to go on Thursdays, not only to shop but to meet with friends.”
The market will reopen next June. In the meantime, there will be periodic indoor markets, Bogin said, beginning with the Thanksgiving Harvest Market Nov. 23 at Gloucester’s Unitarian Universalist Church on Middle Street.
