A 23-year-old Gloucester man is facing a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon and a variety of other complaints in the wake of a Saturday street fight and after being found with a switch blade knife and a set of “brass knuckles.”

According to Gloucester Police, officers responding to a large fight near Millet and Warner Streets Sunday at 5:08 p.m., eventually arrested 23-year-old Matthew Kuch of Millet Street and a juvenile teenager, while also charging four others for minor drug offenses.

Police stopped a car “packed with kids,” according to the report, on Trask Street and told the six occupants to stay in the car, according to the police report.

One of the passengers, a 16-year-old from Liberty Street. stated he dropped some marijuana in his shoe and needed to get out; police told him to stay in the car several times.

The teen opened the car door, denting the police cruiser, he was then arrested.

Meanwhile, brass knuckles were shown at the scene of the fight, and police later searched the car finding brass knuckles and a switch blade.

Kuch was placed under arrest after a victim involved in the fight told police the Kuch exposed the brass knuckles. The victim told police the incident started about an alleged affair with a girlfriend.

Kuch was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, possession of dangerous weapons and disorderly conduct, while the underage Gloucester boy is also facing a charge of disorderly conduct and malicious destruction of property, stemming from the dent in the new police cruiser.

The police report noted that the Gloucester teen also had numerous bags of marijuana stuffed into his pants.

“All persons reeked of marijuana, all had blood shot hazy eyes,” the police report states.

Civil citations for possession of marijuana were also mailed out to the other four Gloucester teenagers in the car, as well as the to Kuch and the juvenile who was arrested at the scene.
