Fishermen, Hornets win on Turkey Day

The Gloucester and Manchester Essex football teams went out winners on Thanksgiving Day, picking up well earned wins over its respective rivals.

The Fishermen topped Danvers 28-19 to move to 4-7 on the season, finishing up with three straight wins. Gloucester was led by 165 yards rushing from John Curcuru, a gutsy performance from quarterback Santo Parisi playing through an injury, and three clutch fourth down stops on defense to preserve the win.

Gloucester held on after taking a 22-0 lead into the half, Parisi was named the game’s MVP.

The win was Gloucester’s eighth straight win over Danvers on Thanksgiving Day, they also hold a 30-15 lead in the all time series on turkey day.

Manchester Essex cruised to a 27-12 win over rival Georgetown on the back of senior captain Cory Burnham, who had 114 yards and two touchdowns on the ground to go along with 89 yards and a score through the air.

Manchester Essex finishes up the season at 3-8.
