Update: Truck driver will face charges in Rockport school bus accident

ROCKPORT — Rockport police said they will seek criminal complaints against the driver of a box truck that crashed into a school bus on Main Street near the Five Corners intersection at around 8 a.m. today.

While a police spokesman said the department will seek complaints, howver, it was not certain of the charges as of early this afternoon, and police have not yet released the identify ot the driver.

According to Rockport police, the accident sent two adults who were aboard Gloucester School Bus #54 to Addison Gilbert Hospital, while the driver of the truck was taken to Beverly Hospital. 

Officials have not clarified that there were no students on the bus at the time; that the bus was on its way to pick up a Special-Education student who had not yet boarded. A witness had told the Times otherwise this morning.

Police said that, when the bus stopped at the Main Street entrance to the Five Corners intersection, the truck rear-ended it.
