Gloucester District Court

Judge Joseph Jennings sentenced a Gloucester man to a year in jail Friday after the man pleaded guilty to a charge of assault and battery.

Robert Tocco, 41, of 253 Washington St., was arrested on Oct. 22 after he punched his daughter in the head and shoved her out of his house.

His daughter told police that Tocco took money out of her purse. He denied it when she confronted him, but she said she pulled the money out of his pocket and then Tocco hit her.

A Lynn man plead guilty to a charge of larceny in court on Friday.

Jennings sentenced Steven Thayer, 23, of no known address in Lynn, to 18 months in jail with seven days deemed served.

Police charged Thayer with larceny after security cameras at Stop and Shop showed him and another man take $200 to $300 worth of baby food from the store, and drive off.

An Essex woman pleaded guilty to larceny in court on Friday.

Judge Joesph Jennings placed Stephanie Boutchie, 21, of 21 Winthrop Street on probation for a year, and ordered her to pay $172 in restitution.

Police charged Boutchie after they found she had stolen roughly $750 worth of jewelry from her aunt on Western Avenue in July. Police recovered the items at a Danvers pawn shop.
