Gloucester Police/Fire: Quarry-jumping Essex teen faces trespassing charge

The 18-year-old injured when he jumped from a 45-foot rock cliff into the Klondike Reservoir, an old quarry, early Wednesday evening was still hospitalized at Beverly Hospital early Thursday afternoon.

The teen, Liam Irwin of Essex, will be summonsed to Gloucester District Court on a trespassing charge along with two other 18-year-olds, Cory MacCollum and Michaela Byrne, who were with him.

Doctors on Wednesday evening told police they believed that Irwin’s injuries were not life-threatening, but that he may have broken bones.

Police have suspended Espresso Italian Grille & Pub’s liquor license for three days as a penalty. The suspension started Wednesday and the restaurant at 116 East Main St. will reopen Saturday. No further information was immediately available on the reason for the temporary license revocation.
