ROCKPORT — A year short of two decades as a librarian in town, Jane Knight has retired.
On Thursday afternoon, the library staff threw a party for the woman who has filled the shelves of Rockport Public Library’s junior department with materials of interest to all ages.
Many with a love of reading, fostered by the story hours, parties, and entertaining programs Knight arranged, attended. They enjoyed cake, ice cream, cheese and crackers and refreshments.
Children and adults were invited to express their appreciation and best wishes in notes or drawings that were compiled into a remembrance book presented to Knight. She also received a proclamation recognizing her work from Barry Pett, representing the office of state Sen. Bruce Tarr.
