Sentences cut in abuse, porn case

A federal judge has reduced the lengthy federal prison sentences being served by a former Gloucester mother and her boyfriend for sexually abusing her daughter.

Kendra D’Andrea, then of Veterans Way, was serving a 27-year sentence in federal prison, while her then-boyfriend, Willie Jordan, was sentenced to 30 years.

But U.S. District Judge Richard G. Stearns has reduced D’Andrea’s sentence to 15 years and cut Jordan’s sentence to 28 years, according to the office of the U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts.

The reasons for the re-sentencing, outlined by the judge late last month, could not be ascertained immediately. The public defender for D’Andrea and Jordan was on vacation and could not be reached.

Both D’Andrea and Jordan pleaded guilty in 2008 to two counts of sexual exploitation of a child and one count of conspiracy to sexually exploit a child.

Police raided D’Andrea’s Veterans Way home on Dec. 3, 2004, after the state Department of Social Services received an anonymous tip that a girl was being abused at the house.

After her arrest, D’Andrea confessed to police to taking turns with Jordan in the sexual abuse of her daughter and taking photos of the abuse with a cellphone camera. The photos then were uploaded on a Sprint PCS Web site where Jordan was able to access them while he was traveling.

The abuse began in June 2004 and carried on through at least November of that year.

Jordan, who was driving a long-haul truck at the time of the raid, was arrested two days later 20 miles west of Detroit.

Under the terms of D’Andrea’s guilty plea on state child rape charges, she will have to register as a sex offender when released from prison.
