Cape Ann salutes the Fourth

Parades, fireworks and other events planned for Gloucester and Cape Ann’s towns over the Fourth of July holiday.

Gloucester — Fishtown Horribles Parade, tonight, starting at 6 p.m. and beginning at Gloucester High School. Parade runs from GHS down Centennial Avenue, up Western Avenue to Tally’s Corner, then down Rogers Street before turning left on Manuel Lewis Street. Parade then runs up Main Street to Pleasant, up Pleasant to Prospect, and then turns left on Prospect, right onto Railroad Avenue, right onto Washington Street, and left on Centennial back to GHS. Note: access at GHS is very limited due to construction, and access is only from Lincoln Street. Free concert at 5 p.m., then resumes from 7 to 11 after parade on Stacy Boulevard. Fireworks launched from Stage Fort Park, 9:30 p.m.

Rockport — Tomorrow, July 4: Reading of the Declaration of Independence, 10 a.m., Dock Square. Annual Firemen’s Parade begins Thursday at 6 p.m. from Rockport High School, with bonfire to follow just after sunset at Back Beach. Also, Rockport Legion Band is celebrating its 80th year with a concert Thursday after the parade at the Back Beach bandstand.

Manchester — Tomorrow: Fourth of July Parade, starting at 10 a.m., with skydivers landing at Coach Ed Field Playground, 12:15 p.m. (No fireworks this year). Parade will line up on Lincoln Street between Memorial Elementary School and the Manchester Essex Regional High School, and travel up Vine Street to School Street. The parade will take a right onto School Street, then a left onto Pleasant Street, left on Pine, then left onto Central Street, where it will go up Union Street to Norwood Avenue and end at Coach Field Playground. The Patriot Brass Ensemble will perform at Coach Field Playground at the end of the Parade at noon.
