Letter: Art group sees positive 'partnership' with site owner

To the editor:

I’d like to clarify a point regarding the story about the new owner of the Rudder and Studio restaurants on Rocky Neck. (the Times, Friday, Nov. 16).

The story indicates that Mr. Dyer “owns” the Rocky Neck Art Colony.

The Rocky Neck Art Colony, however, is a 501(c)(3) arts organization celebrating its 40th year in 2013. The organization currently rents the building at 53 Rocky Neck Ave. from Mr. Dyer, but he does not “own” the organization.

The Rocky Neck Art Colony has been operating the Rocky Neck Gallery at that location for the past several years, ensuring a consistent place for artists to show their work in the face of a changing real estate economy.

Over this first year of Mr. Dyer’s ownership, we have established a very positive partnership with him — one we hope to see continue long into the future.
