Bob Whynott hands Janet Amaral, mother of Stephen J. Amaral, a bouquet of flowers at a dedication ceremony naming the Gloucester Harbor patrol boat the "Stephen J. Amaral" in his honor Saturday afternoon at the Harbormaster's Dock. Amaral, who died in March 2011, served 32 years on the police force and received 37 commendations for his work. At left, stands Officer Scott Duffany, who was close to Amaral and who his mother spoke about as a brother her son never had.
