Sandy causes cancellations on Cape Ann

This is a list of event cancellations prompted by Hurricane Sandy. It will be added to as the Times learns of cancellations.

Because conditions associated with Hurricane Sandy are not forecast to be extreme until later Monday, Gloucester will collect trash on schedule tomorrow.

Residents are asked to have trash out by 7 a.m. The city asks residents, if they are able, to hold on to recycling items until next week’s collection.

Also the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will be open at Fuller School at 6 a.m. on Monday. Volunteers and city employees will be staffing the EOC, according to Mayor Carolyn Kirk.

All fire stations will be open as of 7 a.m. Monday assuming manpower is available and reporting for duty, she said.

Magnolia Pier will be cordoned off, and Kirk urges residents to stay off of it and out of harm’s way all along the coast.

Gloucester Public Schools are closed Monday.

Gloucester District and all other state courts: All calls for first-day jurors for Monday, Oct. 29, have been cancelled.

A special joint meeting of City Council and School Committee scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at City Hall has been called off.

Talbot Rink will be closed Monday.

Selectmen will not meet Monday evening. The town website will provide additional storm-related information as events warrant.
