No one hurt in storage office fire

---- — GLOUCESTER — A fire destroyed a mobile office building that serves as part of a storage facility off Sargent Street and School House Road Monday afternoon.

But there were no injuries reported, and firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control “fairly quickly,” said city interim fire inspector Phil Bouchie, who was on the scene.

Gloucester firefighters responded to the scene at 2:53 p.m., joined by the Fire Department’s ambulance and paramedics and police officers who helped block off Sargent Road and sections of the Route 128 Extension near Gloucester Crossing and the Fuller School building.

Firefighters from Rockport covered the Gloucester fire department while they were on scene.

Fire Chief Eric Smith said firefighting efforts initially encountered a significant delay due to live power lines being down near the storage facility, listed as Gloucester Self-Storage Inc. off 40 Sargent St.

National Grid employees arrived shortly after 4 p.m. to cut the power to the area, said fire chief Eric Smith.

Police and firefighters are still investigating the cause of the fire, interim fire inspector Phil Bouchie said. Bouchie said firefighters did check one storage unit seeking a potential cause of the blaze, but he was unsure of its contents as of late Monday.
