Take an armchair trip to Alaska with photographer

ROCKPORT — A Gloucester photographer and his wife will talk about and show slides from their trip to Alaska at an event Wednesday evening in Rockport.

The Rockport Art Association will host Rich Seeley as he presents “Denver To Denali: A Wildlife Photographer’s Journey” at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The event is free to the public.

Last summer, Seeley, an award-winning wildlife photographer, took a 60-day journey in his recreational vehicle, driving from his second home in Silverthorne, Colo., near Denver. The trip to central Alaska included travel through British Columbia, nine ferries up the Alaskan inside passage, the Yukon, and a week in the interior of Denali National Park, to capture the rich variety of wildlife inhabiting these vast wilderness areas.

A special professional photographer’s road permit allowed Seeley to travel into the “inner” Denali with his own private vehicle.

He his and wife, Beth, will share their experience in a slide show presentation of the journey in the form of images, videos, stories and some humor capturing the majesty of Denali, also known as Mount McKinley, at sunrise, as well as orcas, whales, black bears, grizzly bears, moose, owls, and other wildlife, caught in the act of “wild moments.”
