Police have sought warrants for the arrest of Francesco Lugo, 19, of 41 Veterans Way and David Tupman, 17, of 10 Caledonia Place after they allegedly assaulted two youths in Stage Fort Park.
While on patrol, Officer Vincent Adelfio saw some youths running away from the Stage Fort Park Gazebo toward the city's Welcoming Center Saturday at 12:03 a.m. when he activated his spotlight.
According to the police report, Adelfio left his cruiser and went to the gazebo. There, he said, two youths said someone had "jumped" them. They had severe head injuries.
Adelfio performed first aid at the scene, and called for an ambulance.
As Adelfio attended to one of the youths, that youth said that four others had started fighting with them. He said he ended up on the ground and one of them kicked him in the head while another was holding him down. When he got up, he said one of them pulled a knife on him before he and the other attacked youth were able to flee.
The injured youths declined ambulance transport and a friend instead took them to Addison Gilbert Hospital, where they received stitches for head injuries.
According to Adelfio's report, a girl who was with the youths identified Tupman and Lugo as the attackers. Police had not been able to locate the pair as of Monday.
A 34-year-old Gloucester woman was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after a confrontation with police at 12:58 a.m. Sunday.
According to police, officers were told that Christina Haight of 83 Prospect St., was "no longer welcome" at Latitude 43 on Rogers Street, but when the officers notified her of that, she insisted she did not have to leave, and started yelling obscenities at them.
Officers ordered her to stop and tried to arrest her, but she resisted. Police eventually handcuffed Haight, and transported her to the station.
Officers responded to a two-car accident Sunday at 2:46 p.m. on Easten Avenue.
According to police, a female motorist said that another car had struck her vehicle from behind while she was pulling into a gas station. The woman who hit the first car, meanwhile, said she was in a hurry to get home because she thought her 2-year-old had been left alone. Tally's towed the woman's car and police drove her home.
Officers received a call Monday at 7:39 a.m. from a Page Street resident who said there was a raccoon in his kitchen. Police called animal control, but were unable to reach the animal control officer.
