City's paving work to force parking closures

Gloucester’s Department of Public Works is tackling a pair of projects this week that will impact a number of residents in different parts of the city.

The DPW will be prohibiting parking along the 800 block of Washington Street in Annisquam between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. today, as a contractor finishes paving in the area.

The paving project is weather dependent, city officials emphasized, but forecasts as of Tuesday night were calling for sunny skies with temperatures climbing above the 80-degree mark.

Paving will also continue Thursday on Lookout and Exchange Streets, with parking on those streets prohibited between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Thursday.

The projects are weather dependent, but the Department of Public works has said contractors will work to complete the job in a “timely manner.”

Anyone with questions regarding the paving may call the Department of Public Works at 978-281-9785.
